Ever thought of what you can do with making an App for the iPhone with custom additions and modifications to the iPhone’s address book ?
Here is what we have created (Hope this is food for thought and you will come out with some more ideas for us to work on) -

This is an app which pulls all the contacts from your iPhone and then gives the user the options -
1. Most contacted
2. Recent – (Already in iPhone)
3. Events – For scheduling meeting etc.
4. Nearby – Uses location services to find contacts who are near your current location
5. Facebook – All facebook contact status
6. Filter By -Company
Ungrouped (This app also allows you to “delete groups” right from your iPhone which will not be allowed from the native iPhone interface)

The app also provides an easy way to assign contacts to groups – which is almost a nightmare if you have to do it from your iPhone otherwise.
All the filters which are created are within the native application and will not be extended to the iphone’s UI.

Selecting multiple groups with an “AND” Logic which means if i want to see people common in groups like – Home and Pets – This would mean that the app fetches all the people in my home group which have pets as well.
OR
When we want to see some Ungrouped contacts in US which have something in their Company description – Here is what i get !!

Qucikaccess buttons work better than the native iPhone UI. This will work for :
a) Calling
b) SMS
c) Email
d) Maps (with options to get directions to that contact from your current location)
Contact Profile Screen -

We can also create a network of contacts where we can indicate relationships like -
Brother / Sister
Employer / Employee
Custom … etc
This helps when we write a contact as “Sam – Linda’s brother” to avoid mixing him with your boss "Sam"

You can also have attachments to every contact -
i) Photographs
ii) Audio Notes

in History, you can view all the history for you and this contact in all ways like Calls / emails / locations / SMS / Skype Calls etc.
